Finance ministry puts “AGENOR” under close scrutiny

Finance ministry assigned a team of inspectors the task to investigate on the financial operations carried out by the National Agency for the Transformation and Distribution of Gold and Precious Metals “AGENOR”, whose headquarters are located here in Algiers, following several irregularities and mismanagement registered in this company, reliable sources revealed.

  • According to the same sources, the investigation, launched 40 days ago, concerned some transactions that date back to 2003 when a financial scandal broke out in one of the company’s subsidiaries based in Constantine (eastern Algeria), along with other case recorded in 2004, 2005 and 2006.
  •
  • It should be noted that “Echorouk” newspaper has reported a year ago that a large scale investigation concerning embezzlements within the Agency has been carried out, disturbing the activities of seven workrooms located in Algiers.
  •
  • For his part, the newly appointed Director General has recently declared to “Ehourouk” that he was assigned the task to restructure the Agency and get it back on the track through a series of measures including the replacement of some top managers in the Agency.
